Seal Beach is a complete beach community that is quaint & compact, with easy access to the beach, pier, restaurants, bars, stores & a movie theatre.
The beach at Seal Beach is considered by many as nicer than Long Beach to the west, and other Orange County Beaches to the East.
Full Facilities include Rest Rooms, Showers, a Playground, a Pier, Life Guards with a LifeGuard/Police Station a stone's throw away, easy parking close to the beach, and shops within easy walking distance.
Popular activities are Swimming, Surfing, Boogie-Boarding, Fishing, Bicycling, and Walking around the beach, pier, and shops.
On Electric Avenue where the railroad tracks used to run, there is the Red Car Museum, which features a restored Pacific Electric Railway Red Car. (The Red Car trolley tracks once passed through Seal Beach going south to the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach. Going north into Long Beach you could then take the Red Cars through much of Los Angeles County.) The museum displays photographs of early Seal Beach, sea shells and Indian artifacts collected locally. It also has reference library of local history with detailed regional maps. Open the second and fourth Saturdays from Noon to 3 p.m., the museum provides the most comprehensive look into the history of Seal Beach. Donations are accepted. Call: (562) 683-1874.
The second-longest pier in California is located in Seal Beach and is used for fishing and sightseeing. There is also a restaurant (Ruby's) at the end of the pier.
Old Town Seal Beach features shady, tree-lined Main Street, a beautiful beach and pier reminiscent of small town America during the mid-1900's.
Seal Beach is known as a great location for windsurfing and even has a kitesurfing launch area near the River's End Cafe.
Sandcastle builders love the sand at Seal Beach: the sand will take compaction. You can pack it up and it'll hold its shape. That requires a good mix of grain size without getting too large a grain.
Shopping is easy, right next to the beach, with lots of quaint stores you won't find anywhere else.
